Take unwanted clothes and household items to charity shops or jumble sales;

Wash and squash your empty cans - crushing cans saves room;
Look on the recycling bank for exactly what should go in it. Paper banks are for recycling paper, but not all types are the same, so check before you chuck;
You can compost a third of your food/garden waste at home. You can also compost confidential paper by ripping it up and placing it in your home compost bin;

Do you really need it? Ask yourself this question next time you go shopping. Can you reuse or repair what you’ve got, can you buy recycled? Buying recycled products will help stimulate markets for materials collected from your local recycling banks. Choosing to buy recycled will mean less rubbish goes to the tip.
