Second hand isn’t second rateCelebrities and catwalks across the world have realised just how good second hand clothes can be and are spearheading the trend for retro chic.
You can play your part in the retro revolution by rummaging through your wardrobe and passing on those things that, let’s face it, you’re never going to wear again. It could be the little black dress that’s just too little or the panic buy jumper you’ve never worn but you can bet someone else will love it.
You can donate good quality, usable clothes and shoes to your local charity shop, take them to a jumble sale or visit your nearest clothes recycling bank. Even clothes past their best can be used to make cloths or new fabric, so drop them into a clothes recycling bank and give them a chance of a useful new life!

In the UK we dispose of one million tonnes of textiles annually, of which 500 tonnes is solely clothing – at least 50% of this could be recycled. Taking clothes to charity shops helps raise local and world-wide funding, but you can also take old clothes to textile banks where wearable materials are sent on to charity shops and developing countries while non-wearable materials are used for filling materials, wiper cloths or the fibres are reclaimed and respun.
