Home Composting
WHY compost at home?
- diverts waste from landfill;
- provide the householder with a cost free fertiliser for your garden
Compost is a nutrient-rich food product for your garden and will help improve soil structure, maintain moisture levels, and keep your soil's PH balance in check while helping to suppress plant disease.
It has everything your plants need including nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium and it will help buffer soils that are very acidic or alkaline. Compost improves your soil's condition and your plants and flowers will love it!
Nature can recycle your ‘green’ waste for you!
Garden or ‘green’ waste such as grass cuttings, leaves, twigs and plants is biodegradeable and will decompose easily, and naturally, in a compost bin!
However, if you leave this green waste out to be collected as rubbish, most will end up being disposed of in a landfill site. Space and natural resources are limited so disposing of this green waste by burying waste in landfill is unsustainable and a waste of a valuable natural resource.
