European Week for Waste Reduction (EWWR), 20th to the 28th November 2010
This years European Week for Waste Reduction (EWWR) will be held during the week of November20th – 28th. 
The aim of EWWR is to raise the awareness of the general public of the ease and importance of waste reduction.
Waste Awareness Wales (WAW) have been delegated the task of organising the European Week of Waste Reduction on behalf of
EWWR gives schools, community groups, businesses and individuals the opportunity to arrange events such as swap shops, collections of old furniture and information days.
A number of other European countries including Belgium, Estonia, France, Ireland, Italy, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Spain, Sweden and other regions of the UK (Recycle for London, East of England, Belfast & Scotland) are all undertaking activities during the EWWR.
By taking simple actions to cut off the problem at its source, we can all make a big difference.
Here are some ideas on how you can reduce waste:
- Love Food Hate Waste (LFHW) - cut down on the amount of food you waste by making a few simple changes to the way you buy, store and prepare your food.
- Junk Mail - Did you know you can reduce the unwanted mail sent to you? By acting now you can help reduce the amount of unwanted junk mail items being posted through your letterbox.
- Smart Shopping! - Learn about all the simple ‘Smart Shopping’ habits you can adopt to save money and help to reduce the amount of rubbish you produce;
- Smart Living – Hints and tips on how you can lead a more waste free lifestyle.
- Real Nappies - Say no to disposable nappies! ‘Real’ cotton nappies are a natural, easy to use and cost effective alternative.
- Home Composting - Put your garden or ‘green’ waste to good use by creating your own compost.
