Food Waste
- In Wales we throw away 330,000 tonnes of food each year.
Plastic bags
- Every plastic bag buried in landfill takes around 500 years to decay. We use 500 million of these each week - think twice next time you accept a free carrier at the supermarket;
- A staggering 10 billion carrier bags are produced each year;
- If we laid them, end-to-end, they would stretch to the moon and back five times;
- 80% of UK shoppers put everything into free carrier bags at the supermarket;

Junk mail facts
- Did you know that 43,173 households in Wales registered to reduce junk mail in 2006? That's an increase of 15,741 households compared to 2005 figures.
- For each tonne of junk mail produced 17 trees, 7,000 gallons of water and 390 gallons of oil are used
- By acting now and removing yourself from a database you can help reduce the amount of unwanted junk mail delivered through your door.
