FAQs

faqicon

I don't have a kerbside collection yet, but they do on the other side of town. Why is this?

FAQ answer

Establishing an effective kerbside recycling service takes time and a lot of planning by your Council recycling team. Often new specialised recycling vehicles have to be ordered in and information distributed to each householder providing details of the new collections – all this takes time. If you are not yet served by a kerbside service, be patient, it’s likely to be on its way. Remember your council has Civic Amenity sites where you can recycle your materials for free and many supermarkets also have recycling banks so remember to Drop before you Shop!

faqiconWhat assistance is available to the elderly or disabled?

FAQ answer

If you have a neighbour, relative or friend willing to carry your recyclable materials to the kerbside that would be most helpful. However, if there is no one, you should contact your Council Waste Team who may arrange with their collection crews to collect your recyclables from a prearranged location.

faqiconI live in a flat and I don't have a kerbside collection. How can I recycle?

FAQ answer

Some Councils provide recycling banks close to flats to overcome this. In addition, your council has Civic Amenity sites where you can recycle your materials for free and many supermarkets also have recycling banks so remember to Drop before you Shop!

faqiconWhere can I recycle TV's, video recorders and other electrical items?

FAQ answer

Most civic amenity sites will take waste electrical items. If your item is still working, look in your yellow pages for a charity which may take it and reuse it. Sometimes old computers can be donated to schools or local community groups.
