Kerbside collections
The following materials can be included in your kerbside recycling collection:

  • Cans – food & drink cans,
  • Glass - bottles & jars,
  • Newspaper & magazines -all other paper (including shredded), envelopes, yellow pages, junk mail,
  • Plastics – bottles, food trays,yoghurt pots, cling film, plastic bags
  • Aerosols
  • Aluminium foil
  • Cardboard – all household cardboard i.e. cereal boxes
    (without inserts), toilet/kitchen rolls (inserts only), cardboard packaging, corrugated cardboard – larger boxes flat packed
  • Tetrapaks – juice cartons
  • Textiles

Please rinse all containers

  • To try and make it easier for you, most of the above materials can be placed for collection unsorted. Due to changes in our collection methods all mixed materials will be sorted at a local materials recycling facility where a combination of mechanical and manual sorting separates different materials for recycling.
  • However, paper/card/magazines need to be kept dry and free from contamination so could you please place these all in a separate bag.
  • Textiles also need to be kept dry and free from contamination so please continue to place in bags for collection.

There are 10 bring bank sites in Merthyr Tydfil collecting a range of materials including paper, glass, cans, shoes and textiles. For details of your nearest site visit our bank locator

Civic Amenity sites
Merthyr Tydfil has 2 civic amenity sites:

  • Aberfan, Merthyr Tydfil
  • The Bont, Dowlais
